BENEATH THE SURFACE
The idea that the world we see is filtered by our emotions has been a personal fascination since adolescence. Can we ever know what the person beside us is seeing, thinking and feeling while experiencing exactly the same situation? What does the world actually look like without emotional filters? If a being free of prejudices, emotional drives and motivations could see through the eyes of a human what would they see?
Symbolically our emotions are often represented by water, it reflects, distorts and shrouds that which lies beneath.
This series is mostly shot looking out at the world from underwater.
"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” Carl Jung.
